Post #12 June 18, 2012 - Revenue Managed

I thought I should share this video from American Airlines about inventory and revenue management. It explains why airfare changes so much - per American's own revenue management folks. I find this very insightful of how the process works, which should give you a fairly good idea what goes behind pricing. This is true to airfare and most other travel related products out there that is why I think this video provides a very good overview what factors are considered in your airfare and even your hotel rates. Play the video below...

Consider this as more of an educational tool to help you learn more about the travel industry. If you have any comment, please feel free to leave them below.

Checking-in June 7, 2012 - The best airline for...

This article is entertaining to note, some dose of fun heading into the week's end: The best airline for landing a sugardaddy? ABC Travel has this article about where to land a rich boyfriend, a sugar daddy and a high net-worth husband. According to their findings:

  • Airline with the best chance of meeting a millionaire: Delta Airlines
  • Airline flown by the most generous millionaires: American Airlines
  • Airline flown by the most wealthy millionaires: United Airlines
“If you want the best shot of landing a rich boyfriend, fly Delta Air Lines. If you want a generous sugar daddy, fly American Airlines. If you want a high net-worth husband, fly United Airlines,” said Brandon Wade, Founder & CEO of SeekingArrangement.com and SeekingMillionaire.com, in a press release. “And if you only have the appetite for wealthy men, stay away from peanut airlines such as Southwest, Frontier, Spirit or Allegiant.”

Checking-in June 4, 2012 - Airline News

JetBlue and Hawaiian to link their mileage programs beginning June 5!

This is great news since its announcement in January of this year. Starting June 5, members of JetBlue's TrueBlue program will be able to earn and redeem points for flights on Hawaiian Airlines, and members of Hawaiian's HawaiianMiles program will be able to earn and redeem miles for flights on JetBlue.
What is good about this is that it opens up new possibilities on miles/points earning and redemption. Hawaiian is very strong on the Hawaiian Islands and into the West Coast and the rest of the Pacific, while JetBlue is prominent in the Northeast and offers a gateway to the Caribbean. This opens a better earning and redemption opportunity as the two broaden their reach with this partnership - coast to coast.
TrueBlue members will earn one point for every two miles flown on Hawaiian for most fares while HawaiianMiles members will earn one mile per mile flown on most coach fares, but only 50 percent of flown miles on the cheapest coach tickets. Award redemption details haven't been made available yet. As the program integration is a work in progress, you'll have to book each airline's reservation center to register and/or book award flights.
More information will be posted here as soon as it is made available. In the meantime, please visit the respective airline programs for more details.
